August 12, 2011

To: All IBEW Local Unions with “A” Membership

The IBEW Pension Benefit Fund (PBF) will now have pension applications available online
starting August 15, 2011. These applications will be available through the Local Union
Connections website and on the IBEW website at www.ibew.org in two different locations.
It will be accessible via the Resources tab or the Department tab on the main IBEW webpage.
Therefore, you will no longer need to request a pension application from the International Office.

A member or local union can obtain access by using the last four (4) digits of his or her social
security number (if US) or last three (3) digits of his or her social insurance number (if Canadian)
and card number and click on the submit button. A message will pop up and inform the member
or local union of what type of pension application the member is eligible for (early, normal,
disability or vested) or a message will pop up informing them why he or she is not eligible to
apply. Once the type of pension has been established, click on the application button and
complete the form according to the instructions.

Also note that a pension calculator tab is included that you may select which will project a
member’s pension based on the current information in our system. This is for informational
purposes only and does not compute their actual pension amount if they elect the optional
spouse’s benefit.

Please review the instructions very carefully as some of the procedures have changed with
the new online PBF application process.

With best wishes, we are
Fraternally yours,
